stylin' mamas

After finding out my bestest, best friend is pregnant (that's us in the photo above),  I went on a rampage looking for photos of stylish ladies during their pregnancies. With as many people getting pregnant these days I figured I would find lots of people that had good "maternity style". Turns out I found myself looking at countless photos of Nicole Richie. She was and is (congrats on Number 2!) the epitome of pregnant mama chic'! I came up with some cool ideas for dressing for your body when you are pregnant. Now, I don't have personal experience, but these are some things I think could work out and ensure that during your pregnancy you look less frumpy, more radiant!

Stylish Mamacitas To Do List

1. Avoid tent like dresses. Nobody should look like they are wearing a "moomoo".
2. Do wear shirts and dresses that accentuate your burgeoning belly. Nothing is more beautiful than a proud, pregnant woman. Think "fitted".
3. Avoid too many patterns. Wear simple colors and styles. Black is my fave.
4. Accessorize! Wear colorful shoes, jewelry, scarves etc. Colors, patterns and textures can really liven up any wardrobe. Brightly colored shoes can really liven up any ensemble.
5. Wear belts underneath your belly! I don't know why, but I think it looks so chic! I love the idea of accentuating your big, beautiful belly!
6. Have fun. Wear what you feel good in. Don't let go of your personal/signature style just because you are pregnant. 
7. Take care of yourself. Eat well, take your vitamins, drink lots of water, get some good ole' fashioned exercise. 
8. Oh and if you have time (make time), Read Skinny Bitch Bun in the Oven. It's amazing!
9. Keep up with your skin. Wear moisturizer! Get Pedicures/Manicures.
10. Wear red lipstick! In other words, don't let your makeup routine go down the toilet. Continue "doing yourself up". You will feel better if you do. ; )

style inspiration of the moment: Stripes

I'm feeling stripes lately. I want to find some good basic striped pieces like the ones above and incorporate them into my wardrobe. I also like the idea of mixing stripes with other patterns. Navy and white stripes have always reminded me of Paris. I guess it goes back to Parisian style a la Jane Birkin, Catherine Deneuve, Brigette Bardot, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, and Clemence Poesy. The last mentioned, Clemence is incredibly interesting. To me she isn't your average girl-of-the-moment basking in the glow of the spotlight. She has great style and her natural beauty fascinates me. I went through lots of photos of her at fashion shows and countless photos of her past film works. I chose a few personal favorites to share with you out of the vast array of pictures of her that I came across. On another note, brought up by her perfect red lipstain(see last picture of C.P.), I am still searching for the perfect red lip stain. I want to live in it once I do. HelpmefindoneASAP.

What is your current obsession? higher than high heels. I need some with 5 inches please! Oh, and wedges. 

What is your weirdest obsession? my obsession with cinnamon. I find all kinds of things cinnamon tastes good with. 

What are you wearing today? right now a candy striper looking night gown haha, I am being lazy before work!

Why is today special? I am going to be an Aunt again!, I am alive.

What would you like to learn to do? speak spanish fluently, it is in my heritage after all. Also, I want to skydive!

What’s for dinner today? hmmmm probably oatmeal...with cinnamon! I'll be at work and I never have time to cook a full meal when I am closing.

What’s the last thing you bought? Groceries to make the greatest veggie sandwhiches last night! Oh, and lemon poppyseed muffins...MMMmmm.

What are you listening to right now? my baby snoring...

What is your favorite weather? Sunny, spring time.

What is your most challenging goal right now? Finishing College!!!
